Asset Types
Topics in this section:
* An application user must have a user role with View/Modify
permission to the Resources feature to add, edit, delete, or restore an asset type.
An asset type is any category of equipment owned or operated by your organization, but
especially those types of equipment that require routine maintenance and servicing.
There are two classes of asset types:
System asset types are the default asset types that exist for every Organization.
These are:
Vehicle |
A generic term for any engine-powered class of equipment driven alone or in
combination with a Trailer; for example, a truck, tractor, or bus.
|
Trailer |
A generic term for any towed piece of equipment used in combination with a
Vehicle.
|
System asset types cannot be modified or deleted. If your organization requires more specific
classes of assets, create a custom asset type.
A custom asset type is one that is created by the organization.
-
Click the Create New Type button. This displays the Asset Type Detail page.
- Enter a name for the asset type.
-
Click the Save button to save changes and return to the Asset Types list page.
Points to remember when adding a new asset type:
-
The asset type name must be unique within an organization. Uniqueness checking is case
insensitive and includes both deleted and non-deleted records.
-
The mobile application supports creation of driver vehicle inspection reports for
system asset types only. Use the
Inspection Reports web page to enter a new DVIR for
custom asset types.
