What is the purpose of the Change My Status page?

Use the Change My Status page to record on-duty activities that do not take place in or near a commercial motor vehicle (CMV).

Such activities may include:

How do I change my duty status?

To change your duty status:

  1. Verify that the Name and Date are correct, including the time zone (which should be the time zone of your current home terminal).
  2. Verify that the Open Status and Start Time (adjusted for your current home terminal time zone) are correct. If the status and/or start time are not correct, contact your supervisor to correct your driver log.
  3. Select the appropriate duty status from the Change My Status To drop-down list.
  4. Enter the name of the City If you are outside city limits, enter the name of the nearest city, town, or other population center.
  5. Select the State or Province.
  6. Click the Save button.

If you make a mistake, you can click the Cancel button at any time to return to the previous web page without changing your duty status.

* If you have used the Change My Status page to record an on-duty activity and you will NOT be signing in to a mobile logging device at the conclusion of that activity, be sure to use the Change My Status page to change your status to Off Duty (OFF) when you are relieved from duty.

Why was I prompted about required data elements being omitted when I changed my duty status?

The Driver Portal Change My Status feature allows you to change your open duty status in real time. Canadian regulations require that the driver acknowledge and confirm that required data elements were omitted in the event record any time they change their open duty status without a connection to the CMVs engine ECM.

Why don't I see Change My Status as an option on my HOS menu?

The Change My Status page is part of the Driver Portal feature, which is intended for use by drivers only. Non-driver users can never see this option, regardless of their user role.

Why can't I change my duty status to Driving (D), Sleeper Berth (SB), or Off Duty, Personal Conveyance (OFF-PC)?

These duty statuses are to be used for activities that take place inside a CMV. It is expected that drivers will sign in to a mobile logging device in order to record those statuses.

Why do I see only one option (ON or OFF) when I'm changing my duty status?

The Change My Status page is intended for drivers who need to change their duty status. The driver's most recently reported (aka 'open') duty status is not presented as an option.

Why can't I specify the start time for my new duty status?

The Change My Status page works like a time clock. When you make a change, your new duty status starts now. If you forgot to change duty statuses immediately when you started a new activity, contact your supervisor to correct your driver log.

Why can't I change my status when my current status is Driving (D)?

Automatically recorded driving time can only be modified using the mobile application. You must log in to a mobile logging device in order to end a Driving (D) period.
